Family of Cardinal Medeiros

By Tony Schrick

Vol. 4, 2016-2017

Tonys1

Sir Knight Tony Schrick, Council 7438 has purchased six Cardinal Medeiros Plaques in memory of his Father Albert Schrick and his five sons. Tony is a proud supporter of the Cardinal Medeiros program.

The Cardinal Medeiros Trust Fund was established in 1981 as part of the Texas State Charities program. Cardinal Humberto Medeiros, former Bishop of Brownsville, served as Texas State Chaplain 1969-1970. The Cardinal Medeiros Fellow program was started in 1998 as a means to promote contributions to the trust fund and increase the principal, thus earning more interest. The interest earned is used to fund our educational grants program. The increase in interest income facilitates additional educational grants. A Cardinal Medeiros Fellow may be ordered for a Knight of Columbus or the wife of a Knight. A Cardinal Medeiros Fellow may also be ordered in memory of a deceased Knight or a deceased Knight’s wife. What a wonderful way to honor an individual while at the same time providing a “gift that keeps on giving” through scholarship grants. What a great tribute to a special individual. With a contribution of $1000, the Honoree is awarded a plaque and a lapel pin and their name is engraved on the Honor Roll at the State Office, which is displayed at the annual State convention.

In 2006, the Cardinal Medeiros Sustaining Member was established. This allows greater participation, as the entry level is $100.00, with the balance payable in installments. An attractive lapel pin designates the contributor as a Sustaining Member. The Fellow is awarded when the full contribution is attained.

To become a Fellow or Sustaining Member, go to the Texas Council web site http://www.tkofc.org/uploads/Cardinal_Medeiros_Fellow_Application.pdf, and follow the application instructions.
