Exemplification For Charity Third Texas District

By SK Dennis Stark, PFN District Press Release Liaison

Vol. 4, 2016-2017

The Third Texas District of the Fourth Degree Knights held its Fall Exemplification on October 6, 7 & 8 in Hurst, Texas. 136 Knights became Sir Knights at the ceremony. This was the first time at this facility and everything worked out extremely well. We were honored to have the current Vice Supreme Master SK David Roewe, Former Vice Supreme Masters SK Dan Hogan and SK Paul Wigl and the current master from Oklahoma, SK Fred Crump.

Our exemplifications usually take a weekend, Friday night thru Sunday morning. During the event our Ladies have a raffle of some kind during the day on Saturday and on Sunday morning our District Friar, Fr. Loyd Morris, celebrates a mass. This year the proceeds from the mass collection and the Ladies’ raffle enabled our Worthy Master, SK Pat Conway to donate $2300 for the hurricane victims in Puerto Rico, $1200 for Fisher House and a $500 donation to the Burnett Middle School Choir fundraiser.

For those that my not know, the Fisher House does for Veteran’s families what the Ronald McDonald House does for families of children who are hospitalized undergoing treatment. As a coincidence, one of the winners of the raffle was a family who had recently been served by the Fisher House in Dallas. The husband had undergone knee replacement surgery at the VA and the family was able to stay close by at no expense.

Some members of the Knights often wonder what the money raised at our exemplifications goes to. Of course it helps to pay the bills. But most goes to different charities and the Third Texas District is proud of its history for donating to help Veterans and the service men and women of our country.
