My name is Scott Anderson. I am a 3rd degree Knight in council 8521 in Spring Branch, TX. On September 5, I received an urgent text from GK Brian Thibodeaux (council 11570) about one of his employees, Tony Ramirez and his wife Anna. They were evacuated from Ingleside, TX because of Hurricane Harvey. FEMA had put them up in a hotel in San Antonio with only a box of power bars. They had no money or any food to eat. Tony’s wife is also currently battling cancer.

I forwarded his text to my council. In a matter of a few hours our council agreed to send Tony a $250 check so that they get them some food and much needed gasoline. One brother Knight, Martin Hernandez, brought Tony and Anna Whataburger the same evening of the initial text. The next day after evening Mass, I met with our financial secretary, Terry Temple, who gave me a check for $250 so that I could deliver it to Tony & Anna. It was a humbling experience to help out these two dislocated people.

Thank you to our own GK Rudy Gonzalez for not hesitating on this and immediately getting with the council to help Tony and Anna. A special thanks to GK Brian Thibodeaux for his guidance in getting the proper resources to a man in need. Helping our fellow man is what being a Knight is all about.
