In 2008 Hurricane Ike hit Galveston and flooded 70% of the homes. All three councils meeting places took a big hit. The Houston Chapter organized work details and came to the rescue. One of the councils did not survive.

Nine years later Hurricane Harvey caused havoc with record breaking flooding and destruction. Galveston was spared for the most part and the Knights were ready to give back. Both councils participated in work crews cleaning out houses on several weekends. Council 787 cooked one Friday night for the Dickinson council serving 150 meals to members and workers. Council 787 donated $2500 to the Chapter for Disaster Recovery and is sending another $2500 to State Charities to help others across the area.
