The Knights of Columbus of Council 8158 will be walking again this year to raise funds for their Scholarship Program. Since 1996, the Knights have walked different routes to raise funds. We have walked around Loop 410 to Corpus Christi, to Laredo, from Corpus Christi to San Antonio, and from Laredo to San Antonio. Also, one year it was to Gonzalez, Texas and from the city. For the 14th year in a row, the Knights will undertake a three-day walk to Basilica of San Juan Del Valle in San Juan, Texas. The walk will be on March 9th, 10th and the 11th.

The Knights are asking for support from their community, their friends and area businesses. This support is in pledges of money to each individual walker or the group as a whole, in order to raise funds for this program. We ask you to pledge a set amount or an amount per mile (the walk will be a total distance of 244 miles).

All pledges and eventual monies given to the Knights are tax-deductible. Please help us help our youth – our future. Each year the council awards at least $1,000.00 scholarships to students in their council area, one to a high school senior and the other to the second year college student. In 2000 we awarded five $1,000.00 Scholarships! Last year, through the support of the community, we were able to award $12,000.00 in scholarships to deserving students. Since 1984, over $120,000.00 in scholarships have been awarded.

The bearer of this letter is a walker, a member of council # 8158 Resurrection of the Lord Catholic church, and is authorized to solicit pledges for our program.

We collected over 12,000 dollars last year and gave out 12, 1,000 dollar scholarships.
