Remembering Our Heroes on Memorial Day

By Ron Janak Council 8521 & Assembly 3439

Vol. 4, 2016-2017

Joevock

Members of Assembly 3439 (Ron Janak & Cesar DeJesus) of St Joseph-Honey Creek, Spring Branch, TX , place flags at the gravesites of Veterans in church cemetery for their annual Memorial Day Ceremony, in honoring all Americans who have died for our freedom. This year, council members placed out 49 flags, covering all aspects of occupation, all of the services, and an array of conflicts, mostly from World War II. But this marker is one of Kasper Moos, a Private in Company B, Texas Regiment, Confederate States of America (1847-1934), serving as a 17 yr old for cause he believed in. The ceremony, conducted on Sunday morning on the church and cemetery grounds, for the parishioners, families, and local community members, includes distribution of Poppies, readings, blessing of gravesites, a 21 gun salute, and playing of taps. This annual activity serves as an opportunity for the assembly to exercise it patriotic principle and obligation of remembering those who have died fighting for us, thanking them for their service, and honoring them for their sacrifices.
