Remember it’s not how you start it’s how you FINISH

By Ron Alonzo, State Charity Director

Vol. 4, 2016-2017

At the beginning of this Fraternal year we set a goal and that was to be the first group of brother Knights to break the $ 1 Million mark in Charity contributions in a fraternal year. Currently, we are very close to achieving our goal, however we are not there yet. Now, is not the time to slack off. If we are going to break the $ 1 Million mark, we are going to need everyone’s help.

We have over 200 councils that have made 0 or less than a 10% contribution to Charities. Let’s change that. Many of you have been elected to represent your councils or are the leadership in your Diocese. I ask that you encourage those councils to contribute what they can and help us reach our Charity Goal.

We currently have two Diocese Tyler and Fort Worth, that have achieved their Charity Goals, and a few other Dioceses, Corpus Christi, El Paso, San Antonio and Victoria that are very close to reaching 100%.

There is still time to get your Charity contribution in to the TSC for this fraternal year.

The past two years have been exciting and rewarding. I have had the opportunity to become very close to many of our brother Knights across this great state of ours.

I would like to thank all of you brother Knights, councils, and Dioceses for your commitment to the first principal of the Order – Charity. WE HELP OTHERS! You excelled in participating in Special Olympics, Cardinal Medeiros Fellows, American Wheelchair Foundation, Quick Start Councils and Districts. Your support to the Emergency Response Program during Hurricane Harvey was amazing. I would also like to thank the Charities Committee Chairmen and members for an outstanding job, and a special thanks to the TSC in particular, Kari Jordan, Kathleen Mclaughlin, and Michael Mclaughlin for their continued support during the past two years.

Remember it’s not how you start it’s how you FINISH!
