On the morning of January 27, 2018, 23 members of the St. John Paul II Council 13523 traveled from San Antonio to participate in the Texas Rally for Life. They marched in the peaceful prayer vigil for the benefit of the unborn and their parents. During the march, these Worthy Knights led the rosary and sang the Salve Regina to Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Unborn. Their voices echoed joyfully between the buildings downtown on the trek to the Texas State Capitol steps.

Many Knights participated in the Rally, but for these Knights, participation was part of their vocational calling. You see, Council 13523 is located at Assumption Seminary – ALL 23 of the Knights are seminarians currently in formation to the Catholic priesthood. Council Pro-Life Director Thomas Lyons form the Archdiocese of San Antonio coordinated this event in conjunction with the seminary’s Life-Peace-Justice committee chairman, Jose Santiago Perez from the Diocese of San Bernadino, under the guidance of Grand Knight Joseph Moreno from the Diocese of Fort Worth. Many seminarians from dioceses around the country attending Assumption Seminary joined in the Rally for Life. Please pray for our seminarians as they set the example for leadership while living out their vocation call in service to Christ and his Church.
