It’s How You Finish that Counts!

By Ron Alonzo, State Programs Director

Vol. 4, 2016-2017

This past July at the organizational meeting many of us gathered to set our goals for the fraternal year. We gathered once more at the Mid-Year meeting to reassess our goals. Now, we are at the verge of completing our fraternal year, no matter where your council is now, it’s how you finish that counts!

You may only have one more council meeting before the end of the fraternal year. Prior to the end of the fraternal year on June 30, make sure that your council achieves the requirements to qualify for the Father McGivney, Founders’, Columbian and Star Council Awards.

In the last Knight Letter, I went over the requirements for achieving the Columbian Award, if you have any questions, we are here to help.

Columbian Award

This award recognizes excellence in your council’s programming and charitable outreach. Complete and submit the Columbian Award Application (#SP-7). Councils must conduct and report at least four major programs in each of the Service Program categories: Faith, Family, Community, and Life. Completed applications must reach the Supreme Council office by June 30.

Updated Columbian Award Application (#SP-7)

Make sure your council submits the correct form.

The Columbian Award Application has been updated to reflect the new Faith in Action program model.

The electronic form is available through Officers Online. Electronic submissions via “Online Submission” are encouraged. Please review this information.

All forms for programs can be found at kofc.org/forms and submitted to fraternalmission@kofc.org

115th State Annual Convention

At the most recent annual Knights of Columbus convention held in Corpus Christi, we were able to visit with many of our brother knights throughout the weekend and recognized many councils for their achievements. At the beginning of this fraternal year the New Faith in Action model was rolled out and many of you had concerns, but as Knights always do, you stepped to the challenge and embraced this new model. Thanks for all you do – everyday – to grow the Order and keep the Dream of Fr. McGivney alive!

I would like to take this opportunity to show my appreciation to the Program committee members for their time and dedication.
