In October, Prince of Peace Council 11716 in Plano provided 380 wheelchairs (280 standard wheelchairs and 100 specialty wheelchairs) for the CRIT Center in Oaxaca, Mexico. The specialty wheelchairs averaged $600 each and were designed for the specific needs of children, such as those with cerebral palsy.

Prince of Peace Associate Pastor Father Stephen Ingram, Wayne and Rusty Adams, David Carr, Mark and Marty Dama, Jim and Lillian Kowalski, Dick and Lorraine Leyendecker, Dan and Monique Stoffel, Bill and Elaine Weber and Steve and Kathleen Welsh traveled to Oaxaca to help distribute some of those wheelchairs. While in Oaxaca, about 60 wheelchairs were distributed at the CRIT Center and 5 home deliveries of wheelchairs were made.Family after family told us that we had answered their prayers. The hugs, smiles and tears of joy from the recipients and their families translate the same in any language.

Pictured is a girl receiving a blessing from Father Stephen Ingram during one of the home deliveries. She was so excited to receive her new wheelchair that she sprang right into it and was almost hyperventilating from her excitement.

Council 11716 raised $129,407 from their Wheelchair Drive in February to provide these wheelchairs.Over the past nine years, Prince of Peace Catholic Community has donated over $561,955 for 2,729 wheelchairs. Their extreme generosity has provided wheelchairs for Honduras, the Holy Land and the following cities in Mexico: Guanajuato, Mexico City, Chiapas, La Paz, Puebla, Merida and Oaxaca.
