Shaun P. O'Brien-Prince of Peace Council 11716 in Plano, Texas held its 10th Annual Wheelchair Drive at its parish to benefit the American Wheelchair Mission. The drive raised an incredible $130,311, which will provide 280 standard wheelchairs and 110 more expensive specialty wheelchairs for the CRIT Center in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The amount raised is $904 more than last year and is the 3rd year in a row that the donations have exceeded $100K.

10 year old Lee-Ann Fidaire, pictured with the card she gave the Knights, raised $1,050 by herself opening a GoFundMe Fundraiser where she recorded a message and a song. This was her third year of raising funds for the American Wheelchair Mission.Lee-Ann raised $460 in 2018 and $600 last year.

Over the 10 years of the drive, the extremely generous parishioners of Prince of Peace Catholic Community have donated $692,088 to provide2,709 standard wheelchairs and 400 specialty wheelchairs for people in need. They have answered the prayers of many families. In the past, they provided wheelchairs for Honduras, The Holy Land and to CRIT Centers at these locations in Mexico: Guanajuato, Mexico City, Chiapas, La Paz, Puebla, Merida and Oaxaca.

We are extremely grateful to Fr. Tom Cloherty and Fr. Stephen Ingram for their tremendous support of the mission again this year by allowing pulpit talks at all the masses, contributing to the mission, joining us on distribution trips and sharing their experiences. We are also grateful for the Founding Pastor at Prince of Peace, the late Fr. Jim Balint. He gave the Knights approval to start this mission at Prince of Peace without any hesitation.
