The Centre for Emergency Health Sciences has again this year been a true partner with St Joseph Church and the Community in the area of emergency health safety training. They held 3 American Heart Association (AHA) certification classes for CPR/AED for our Church, certifying 29 volunteers. This training was done with Centre's volunteers with the only costs being fees required by the AHA. Over the last several years, the Centre has also provided non-certification emergency health safety training at no cost for the Ushers and St. Vincent DePaul Volunteers.

In addition, this year, the Centre trained 5642 students at 7 Comal County Middle Schools in "STOP THE BLEED / START THE HEART". If we have such an emergency, don't be surprised if you see some Middle School Students stepping in to help! The Centre trains a very diverse group individuals including; Community Volunteers, Paramedics, Firefighters, Combat Medics from all over the world and Doctors. The training includes everything from basic First Aid to very advanced life saving procedures. They also do research on pre-hospital emergency care procedures with the UT Health Science Center and others.

This training saves lives. We are very fortunate to have them in our Community.

The Knights of Columbus St. Joseph Catholic Church - Honey Creek presented their gift to us in support of our charitable first aid skills training and education programs.
