Nurturing Center

Lawrence started Nurturing Center in 1991 with $500 start up money from our councils One Rose One Life collection. In 2010 a group of 14 individuals, mostly Knights, bought the current Nurturing Center office next door to Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. The Lubbock area Knights Councils with the co-op matching funds help from Supreme Council purchased an imaging machine in 2013. Pregnant women coming to abortion clinic with an appointment for an abortion next door were encouraged by Nurturing Center volunteers to have a sonogram before they abort their baby. Since 1991 the efforts of Lawrence and the Nurturing Center staff and volunteers have saved approximately 1,000 babies from certain death and assisted 4,200 new moms with compassionate assistance. Additionally the Nurturing Center has educated more than 4,500 teens using the Theology of the Body for Teens curriculum designed by the Late Pope Saint John Paul to embrace Purity, Chastity and Holiness as the only fool proof way to eliminate Unwed Teen Pregnancies as well as the deadly epidemic rate of STD infections. The Planned Parenthood abortion clinic closed in 2013 due to life saving efforts of the Nurturing Center and their failure to comply with legislation.
