Keep Christ in Christmas

St. Francis of Assissi Council 13825 in Orange, Texas participated in the Keep Christ In Christmas poster art contest for the first time at Christmas 2015. We had 70 children participate in the 3 age groups. Attached is a photo showing the three winners, one for each of the three age groups 5-7, 8-10 and 11-14. Every child that participated in the contest was presented a nice Participation Certificate. The three winners received a Winner’s Certificate and a $25 cash prize. As you can see from their faces they were really excited. All participants seemed to enjoy the challenge. Shown in the picture from left to right are winners Noah Bonnette (11-14), Heather Hughes (5-7), and Anna Higginbotham (8-10), and Grand Knight Scott Rollins in the background. The nice thing about the presentations is that it gave the Grand Knight an opportunity to talk to the children and educate them a little about the Knights of Columbus and what we do. When the children were asked their opinion of what a Knight does, one answer was “guard the King and Queen”. You might guess that that was the youngest age group. As part of our Supreme Knight’s Family Initiative, we hope to expand the participation in 2016.
