AUSTIN (KXAN) — Catholics were invited to gather at Wooldridge Square Park Sunday morning for a procession in honor of Christ the King. The group marched from the park to the Texas Capitol in an event sponsored by the Greater Austin Knights of Columbus called the “March for Religious Freedom.”
Groups from each of the diocese’s 126 parishes were invited to participate with signs and banners in defense of religious freedom.
The event also falls on the 52nd anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, America’s first and only Catholic President, who was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
