Deer Park Council 10574 Awards Scholarships

St. Hyacinth Council 10574 of Deer Park awarded $500 scholarships to eight (8) students in memorial of deceased Brother Knights of the Council. Since 2003, the Council has awarded scholarships to 52 deserving students for a sum of $50,500. The recipients were selected, from among many who applied, based on academic achievement, leadership and involvement in church and community activities, as well as an essay on “How his or her college degree will influence his or her role in society?” Special thanks to Brothers Tony Champion (Chairman), Fernando Davila, and Charles Faldyn for serving on the Scholarship Committee.

The scholarship recipients and their families along with Rev. Reginald Samuels, Pastor of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, were honored guests at the Council’s Awards Banquet held July 22, 2017. The “Knight of the Year” was awarded to Charles Faldyn and “Family of the Year” was awarded to the Howard and Mary Schaeffer family. A delicious chicken pasta dinner was prepared by PGK Kevin Schoppe and family, and served by St Hyacinth’s CDA.
