Fort Worth Religious Appreciation Dinner

The Knights from the Fort Worth Diocese presented Bishop Michael Olson with a check for $204,169. The Fort Worth Diocese surpassed their $88,770 State Charity goal with the help of Wichita Falls Co. 1473. The check was presented to the Bishop at the 22 nd Annual Priest and Religious Appreciation Dinner held in August. More than 400 Knights, priests, deacons, sisters, religious and family members attending the dinner. During the event, Fr. Wilcox, vocations director for the Diocese, introduced the 30 seminarians who were in attendance. The Knights also presented Fr. Wilcox with a $4100 check for any emergencies that come up with the seminarians. This money was collected through the “Pennies for Seminarians” program. Over the last 22 years, the Fort Worth Diocese has raised over $3.2 million, which has been earmarked by the Bishop for Vocations and Deaf Ministries. The Deaf community always participates in the dinner by signing a song showing their appreciation to the Knights and the priest and religious. During the event, the Knights recognize those priest and religious who were celebrating milestone anniversaries and a moment of silence was taken as the names of any priest, sister, or deacon who passed away the previous year was read. Following the dinner and program, a live and silent auction was held raising over $25,000 and kicking off the new fraternal years State Charity goals.
