On January 7th, Chief Counselor SK Patrick Fletcher, PFN, presented the Deacon Pete Martinez Columbian Squires Circle 5279 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie with its 2015-2016 fraternal year awards from Supreme. The first award, the Corps d’Elite Award, recognizes Squires Circle 5279 for the fifth consecutive year as an active Circle based on its activities required by Supreme, the timely payment of its per capita taxes to Supreme, the timely filing of its reports with Supreme, and the meeting of its membership goal set by Supreme. The second award, the prestigious Brother Barnabas Award, recognizes the 25 best activities conducted during the fraternal year by local circles throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, and Guam. This is also the fifth consecutive year that Squires Circle 5279 has received the Brother Barnabas Award. Unlike previous years, Circle 5279 received 3 Brother Barnabas Awards for 1) its Pro-Life Donation Drive during the Squires Annual Convention that it hosted at St. Anthony in June, 2016, 2) helping to restore the Wylie Veteran's Memorial for Memorial Day in May, 2016, and 3) its Stars for Troops and Veterans Program during the Veterans Day Mass and Breakfast in November, 2015.
