Brother Knights, Ladies, Families and Friends of the Texas State Council:

It’s what we do that captures the attention of our communities and our world. What we do makes us witnesses to the faith because our principal work involves helping others in need. We Knights of Columbus in Texas are Catholic men of faith and men of charitable action. It’s who we are. Together with our families, parishes, dioceses, and local communities we hold fast to the first principle of our Order: Charity. It is the basis for all we do.

The Knights of Texas have always shown exemplary and exceptional response to the requests for assistance, service, and the charitable goals set for their Council. Each year, our Brother Knights in Texas work hard to raise money for our State Charities Program. Each council has a goal that equals $10 times the number of active members in their Council. Our State goal for this year is $997,600.00. Last year Texas led the entire Order in contributions to charity. And Texas could very well reach the goal of breaking $1,000,000.00 for a second year in a row.

Seventy percent of the money collected goes back to each Diocese where the money was collected for the Bishop’s designated charitable program. The remaining thirty percent, along with other charity proceeds, are used by the Texas State Charities Board to fund Catholic School and individual educational grants, to provide support for the Special Olympics in Texas, to provide relief from natural disasters, and to respond to requests for assistance from across the State. For many years we have also provided funds for the retired and infirmed priests across Texas, provided substantial support for the Texas Catholic Archives, and supported campus ministries to ensure outreach to the next generation.

As we implement a new program of Faith in Action, we are often reminded that Charity has been and is at the heart of the Knights’ mission. Our State theme is “Let Your Light Shine”; what better way to let your light shine than to make a personal contribution to Texas State Charities. It takes a lot of us working together to raise funds for our charitable causes. Please prayerfully consider making a personal contribution to Texas State Council Charities so that we may continue to serve our Church and do God’s work. After all, it’s who we are.

When making your contribution, please include your council number and it will be credited to your Council’s State Charities Goal.
