Vol. 2, 2024 - 2025
January 22, 2018 marked the 45th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision that proclaimed laws prohibiting abortion as unconstitutional. Along with Doe vs Bolton, these decisions effectively legalized abortion in the first trimester of pregnancy. The Knights of Columbus remain firmly committed to the defense of life and the right to life of every human being, from the moment of conception to natural death. For more than 40 years, the Knights of Columbus have led efforts in the pro-life movement. On January 22, another event occurred when all Catholic dioceses in the United States observed the "Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children,” a day of prayer for the restoration of the right to life and penance for violations committed through the act of abortion.
This momentous time calls for Knights to stand up and speak out against the evils of abortion. As such, for the second year, Knights of Columbus Council 4786 displayed white crosses that represent the victims of abortions. Two parishes displayed the “Cemetery of Innocents” in their parishes, including: Our Lady Queen of Heaven, 11150 Macdona-LaCoste Rd, McDona, TX, 78054; and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 13466 IH-35 South, Von Ormy, TX, 78073. This year, 25 white crosses stood, each representing 100 abortions a day, and serves to highlight the tremendous loss of innocent human life through abortion.
Our mission as Catholic men is to always protect the sanctity and dignity of all human life; that life is a gift of Almighty God; and God entrusts the protection of life to a mother and father.©2024 Texas State Council. All rights reserved.
