90TH ANNUAL AUSTIN CO. PARADE

By Joe J. Marusik Purser, Sealy Assembly.

Vol. 2, 2024 - 2025

The Sealy Assembly was honored to be selected by the Austin County Fair Parade Committee to be the Grand Marshall of their recent 2017 Fair Parade for this being their 30th consecutive year to participate in since 1988.The Sealy Assembly was formed in 1987 and the Sealy Assembly’s Color Guard participated in their first Austin Co. Parade the following year and has lead the annual parade every year since with the exception of one year when another group was chosen.

An intriguing observation is that this year’s parade date, Thursday, Oct. 12, was the traditional Columbus Day, the name sake of the Knights of Columbus.

The Assembly Color Guard has also participated over the 30 years of existence in various community and civic events, parades, annually the Sealy-BellvilleHigh School football game, banquets, dedications, etc.The Honor Guard has turned out for many church events including Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, Bishop of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, his Auxiliary Bishops and our parish Priests and local parish events. The Assembly also provides Honor Guard for departed Sir Knights at funeral wakes and services.

The K of C councils aligned with the Sealy Assembly No. 2103 are Sealy Co. 3313, Bellville Co. 9268 and Industry Co. 10224.The current Faithful Navigator for the 2017-2018 Fraternal Year is Andy Felchak of Bellville.
