Council 14700 Receives 2017 award for Best Fish Fry from AGH Chapter

On March 9, 2018, AGH Chapter President John Hinojosa presents the “Best Fish Fry” award to PGK Don Huml and Council 14700.

After waiting a year the Brother of Council 14700, were honored and elated to receive the presentation of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Chapter Best of the Best Fish Fry award and plaque, from Chapter President and Assistant Diocese Deputy John Hinojosa.

Although long delayed, the brothers were greatly appreciative and received great encouragement from SK Hinojosa along with a rousing ovation from all the diners at the March 9, 2018, Fish Fry.

The council has embraced charity, unity, fraternity, and support for the community and parish with the award winning fish frys prior to the Stations of the Cross.

Council 14700 serves a 7-9 ounce fried or grilled catfish and fried shrimp.Diners have a choice of fish, shrimp, or a combo of fish and shrimp.Each plate includes French fries, coleslaw, seasoned green beans and if that was not enough macaroni and cheese with all you can drink tea, lemonade, or water.The Knights have also served golf fans with an Arnold Palmer drink too.

To assist the parents with younger children, the Knights have cheese pizza, kid sized meals (half portion of the fish or shrimp), or sides only.

With both an indoor and outdoor sitting area where the kids are in a safe area - - the kids are free to play on the field- - while mysteriously the kid’s portions seem to disappear much to the suspicion that Mom and Dad may have enjoyed a little more food.

St. Michael the Archangel Catholic parish’s Stations of the Cross is enriched by the fish fry diners where the brothers joyfully serve parishioners and community members alike.

The Knights have both a state of the art indoor kitchen thanks to the generosity of the Principal and Kitchen Staff at St. Michael’s school — the Knights also have an outdoor kitchen where all the frying and grilling occurs.

Finally to enhance the dining pleasure for those on the go and unable to attend the comradeship of community or Stations of the Cross the 14700 Knights have a drive thru

Diners on the go, are ably served by a drive through where they get the same great food.
