Kolbe Prison Ministry

Kolbe Prison Ministry’s mission is to share the agape love of Jesus Christ with those in prison and to teach the fullness of the truth of the Catholic Church. On February 28, March 1 and March 2nd of 2019 we brought the Kolbe Retreat to the maximum security Connally Unit in Kenedy, TX.

We are very grateful for the Knights of Columbus council 8789’s (Holy Name Catholic Church) generous monetary donation to this ministry retreat. The council donated $350 to this worthy cause so we could provide two hot meals for the inmates. We thank the council for their gracious support.

We brought the retreat to over 50 inmates and were able to share the love of Christ with these men. Many of these men have lost all hope and don’t have anyone in their life right now. After confession and foot washing many of the men wept and were touched by this retreat. Many men gave their lives to Christ during this retreat and several men have enrolled in RCIA classes to become confirmed Catholics.

These retreats have enriched and reinvigorated the spiritual lives of hundreds of inmates throughout the state of Texas. Many inmates open their heart to the word of God and begin to make a positive change in their lives.
