State Warden Message

By Pat Henz, State Warden

Vol. 2, 2024 - 2025

Pat Henz

I certainly missed seeing everyone and the fellowship that would have been at the State Convention this year. This COVID-19 sure has tried to take us down.It is certainly a different type of threat. As a cop, you know what your threat is, and sometimes you can even see it and prepare for it.But this was different, a bit scary, and never sure where it was going to show up.So how do you deal with this kind of threat?FAITH and TRUST in God.I know He was with me every day at work and I know He is with you each and every day.You rely on your partners and your friends for support, for reassurance, and for motivation to continue on.In life, our partners are our wives and our children, and our friends are our Priests, Brother Knights, and coworkers.Together, we will prevail but we must help each other and be there for each other and for ourselves. My heart truly goes out to those who were affected in one way or another and those who lost loved ones, a family member, or a friend. Please know that you all have been in my prayers.

I want to thank you all for your support during my two-year term as your State Warden. It was an honor and privilege to represent you wherever I went.I also want to thank you for your support with the Shield a Badge program. This program continues to grow and I am grateful to all of you for always thinking of our Police, Fire, and First Responders. And now, with this pandemic, our Nurses, Doctors, and Healthcare Workers – they all have done a tremendous job taking care of those who are sick and dying all while putting their lives at risk. What a great way of showing our appreciation than saying a prayer for them each day that God protects them and keeps them healthy.

As you may have seen, I will be the new State Program Director under our new State Deputy Alfredo Vela.I will continue to promote the Shield a Badge program but just as important, I will be promoting the Faith in Action and the Leave No Neighbor Behind programs. The activities that fall under these two programs are what the Knights are all about. And it is during this time of uncertainty that we, the KNIGHTS need to shine and support our families, our church, and our neighbors.Be proud of being a Knight through your actions and Be Not Afraid to show your faith while doing it.

Until we can see each other again in person, may God Bless you all and stay healthy.
