Our Lady of Guadalupe Can Help Your Council

This past Spring, many councils were impacted in their fund raising when the Lenten Fish Fry Dinners, pancake breakfasts, and Spring festivals were canceled due to the COVID virus. At the start of the fraternal year, many councils’ fundraisers are still not able to be conducted due to the virus uncertainty. Brother Knight Ricardo Flores of Council 5052 and as a member of the Texas State Council Pro-Life Team, is offering to help councils fundraise.He wants to promote Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Pro-Life movement by partnering with councils to provide a true image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to parishioners at our churches, while providing income to the local council charity fund.The image will help parishioners join in the tradition of seeking Our Lady’s intervention in times of crisis and during pandemics.

Ricardo’s company Our Lady of Guadalupe Arts provides beautiful, accurately true images of Our Lady of Guadalupe.The image is placed on a faux Henequen synthetic textile which is very similar to the feel of the original Tilma on which Our Lady placed her image. The image come in 3 sizes – Miniature (5”x9”), Family (34”x20”), and Original (68”x40”).The images are reasonably priced at $6 for Miniature, $30 for Family, and $98 for Original.It is suggested that the council can easily sell the images for twice this cost. A suggested plan to be successful is:

• Assign a chairman and team to plan and coordinate the program
• Choose a pro-life ministry (ultrasound initiative, pregnancy center support, maternity home), local food bank, parish fund, council scholarship or charity fund
• Develop a plan with dates
• Coordinate with Ricardo to get samples and his ideas on your plan.
• Present plan and samples to your parish priest for approval
• Advertise in bulletin or council/parish Facebook page
• Sell at weekend masses
• Offer by phone call or email to brother knights, families, parishioners

In this time of uncertainty, we need to pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe for a cure for the virus, for the protection of all human life and the family which brings new life into the world, and an end violence and ethnic prejudice as well as safety, employment, and healing.To pray in front of this miraculous image will strengthen one’s devotion and prayer life.
