18th Annual Bishop Cahill Charity Classic

Father Joseph Plummer Council 10872 of Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Spring hosted the 18^th Annual Bishop Cahill Charity Classic on Friday, May 7^th. 96 golfers participated in the four-person scramble event at Windrose Golf Course while enjoying nearly perfect weather conditions. Tournament Director, Brother Denny Macel, and 15 committee members executed a nearly flawless outing.

The tournament featured a hole-in-one Cadillac, lunch, dinner, drinks, door prizes, and a silent auction that even included a like-new golf cart donated by a friend of the Knights. Bishop Cahill, our State Chaplain, gave the opening invocation. Our Pastor, Father James Burkart, said the blessing before dinner and joined us for most of the festivities.

The 18^th Annual Cahill Classic was held only seven months after the 17^th, making its success particularly noteworthy. The 17^th was postponed five months because of Covid precautions.

Each of the tournaments produced gross revenues of about $25,000. The vast majority of the net proceeds are used for seminarian support at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston.

It was a great day for fellowship, fun, competition, and escape from Covid. We are already discussing ways to further enhance the 2022 event!
