Council 10930 in Fort Worth conducted its First Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday May 8, 2021 at The Golf Club at The Resort. The Council was looking for new ways to raise funds for its charitable activities and after hearing of the success from other councils and organizations it was decided that a Golf Tournament would be a popular event. The council quickly began to organize a committee and set up the event. The course was selected and tested by the Chairman Doug Simmons and other officers. A budget was prepared and prizes selected. Flyers were prepared and sent to all members of the council and inserted in the parish bulletin and included in the carryout dinners during our Lenten Fish Frys. In a short amount of time the council had the support of 28 sponsors and enough golf teams to start on all 18 holes. Financially for our first golf tournament it was a success. Everyone had an enjoyable day. The weather was perfect.
Several wives of the council members assisted with the registration while other members assisted on the course. A lunch was provided for all the players and volunteers during which the cash prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams, Close to the Hole (Putter), Longest Drive (Driver), and raffle prizes. A lot was learned during this first event and the council expects even better tournaments in the future. It was a great opportunity to promote the Knights of Columbus and its charitable and community activities.
