PALESTINE, Texas - Knights of Columbus Council 1323 in Palestine, Texas hosted Chris Lewis, president of the American Wheelchair Mission, and Bill Weber, Knights of Columbus state wheelchair director, at its first Wheelchair Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 12th and 13th. Thanks to the generosity of the community, the drive far exceeded its goal and raised funds to donate over 50 wheelchairs for families in need of the gift of mobility in the Tyler Diocese.

The council is very grateful to Fr. Jonathon Frels, Fr. Cristian Zelaya, and the entire community for their tremendous support of the mission. Also, thanks to the support of council Field Agent James Speelman, the Wheelchair Sunday mission was successful in recruiting many new members and encouraging a few “old-timers” to reactivate their membership in the Order.
