2022.1 Texas State Council Charities

By Derek Rabey, State Charity Director

Vol. 4, 2016-2017

Games

Special Olympics Texas will welcome athletes, from across this great state, to San Antonio, Texas for their Summer Games which will be contested at Morgan’s Wonderland from September 19-22, 2021.

As Brother Knights we are called to be in solidarity with our Priests. What better way to demonstrate support than through contributing to and meeting each Council’s assigned State Council Charity Goal. When a Texas Knights of Columbus Council meets their assigned goal, 70% of those funds are returned to support the designated charitable works of their Bishop. As Brother Knights, it is our duty to ensure the maximum amount of funds are made available for our Bishops. We must ensure we are worthy of our high calling. Start planning now to determine when your Council will be added to the State Charity Honor Rolls.

Charity is more than almsgiving. Charity is more than good works. Charity is a heart that sees Christ in our neighbor. To show love to even those we do not know is the Charity which evangelizes and gladdens the heart.

“Charity is the beating heart of the Christian; just as one cannot live without a heartbeat, so one cannot be a Christian without charity.” Pope Francis

I want to give once again a HUGE thank you to allow of the Councils who made contributions towards their State Council Charity Goal in the 2020-2021 fraternal year. Each and every dollar contributed will make a change in the life of someone in need.

VIVAT JESUS!
