My Brother Knights,

I love it when the Texas Knight publication comes out because I get to see so many councils promoting and bragging about all the different activities they are doing. Just look at the photos and you can see the faces of people who are on the receiving end – they are happy with joy and grateful for what they are being given. And just the same, the Brother Knights who are delivering the items, their faces show just how proud they are to be a part of that program.

Another great program all Councils should be doing is the Family of the Month. This is simple and successful. Work with your pastor and remember, the family does not have to be a Knight. This could be a great way of recruiting new members. Perhaps many councils already participate in the Family of the Month program but fail to submit the proper Family of the Month report. Supreme has done away with all previous Family of the Month report forms. The only one being accepted is through the Fraternal Program Report Form #10784.This is due on the 15th of the month for the prior month.

Another bonus for Family of the Month is that Supreme will draw a family from all the entries from Texas for that month. Those chosen by Supreme will be sent a gift from Supreme. Along those lines and a way to encourage more councils to participate in this program, for each quarter, I will be sending a 4x6 Holy Family Icon to all councils who participate in this program each month of that quarter.

A few key events that the councils should be wrapping up these next two months are the Silver Rose, Soccer Challenge, Catholic Citizenship Essay, and the Keep Christ in Christmas programs. Remember to submit the Fraternal Program Report #10784 after completing the programs. And with the holidays upon us, don’t forget your Seminarians. This is a great time to send them a care package and maybe a little extra spending money for the holidays.

The success of any council comes from the success of its programs. Successful programs bring new members. Without these two, a council begins to fail. The Program Team is here to help answer questions and provide suggestions in order for your council to achieve the ultimate goal – STAR COUNCIL.
