Fr. Norbert Maduzia poses with Kathy Stoecker and Dan Stoecker after the portrait of Michael McGivney was unveiled at St. Ignatius of Loyola’s McGivney Hall in memory of SK Lee Stoecker.

Knights of Columbus Council 10861 of St. Ignatius Loyola in Spring unveiled a special portrait of Fr. Michael McGivney in September.

The portrait of our founder was a gift from the Stoecker family in honor of longtime insurance agent Sir Knight Lee Stoecker, who passed in June.

Lee’s wife Kathy and son Dan came up with the idea when friends and family asked where they could make a donation in Lee’s honor.

St. Ignatius renamed its social hall “McGivney Hall” – where Council 10861 meets and holds events – after the campus was rebuilt following Hurricane Harvey. Fr. Norbert Maduzia, pastor and chaplain, helped select the portrait of McGivney and a plaque was added to the custom framing to memorialize Stoecker.

The Council also has a relic of McGivney that will be added to the display.

Donations in Stoecker’s name will also be used to hang a complementary framed picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe in McGivney Hall.
