January was a rough month for Police here in Texas and across the nation. We had five officers killed in the line of duty, four of those were in the last week of January.Officer Christopher Gibson with the Dallas Police Department, Special Agent Anthony Salas with DPS, Corporal Charles Galloway with Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 5, Sergeant Ramon Gutierrez with Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Sheriff Lorin Readmond with Loving County Sheriff’s Office.

Please keep these officers and their families and all our Police, Fire, and First Responders in your prayers. A simple prayer each day for an Officer’s safety, Good Judgment, and Safe Return Home is all it takes.

As we continue to pray for all our Officers and First Responders, we must continue to pray for our communities as a whole. The uptick in crime and the attacks on our churches is a reminder that evil does exist and lurks around us seeking whom it might devour. So watch and pray.

I am so proud of my Brother Knights across this great State of Texas and their support of our Police, Fire, and First Responders.Several councils continue to adopt officers from their communities and are praying for them daily. With this latest cold spell, officers were assisting motorist injured in accidents or help those with no heat, water, or food find shelter. During these times, councils were praying for all of them and even bringing them food and hot chocolate to help them keep warm while working outside.

May is National Law Enforcement Week. Consider conducting a Blue Mass or some sort of special blessing to show your support to your local law enforcement sometime during May.
