I Tip My Hat

By Boyd Burris, State Warden, Texas Knight Reporter

Boyd Burris

I tip my hat to the Corpus Christi Team for doing a great job on the 2022 State Convention. I realize that there is a lot of work that goes into hosting a convention so I can appreciate your hard work. Also, I thank the State Office; Mike, Kathleen, and Kari, for all their work in preparation and execution of everything from room reservations to delegate credentials.

Congratulations to all the award winners. Councils should not do an activity thinking if it will win an award, or not. But the brothers who participated in an event that won an award benefit from the notification that someone thought enough of their efforts to submit the event to State and won an award.

My term as State Warden ends June 31.The past two years have gone by fast. It has been a pleasure serving you as State Warden. Patricia and I have made friends from all over the State. We look forward to State Conventions so we can see our friends again. We have made many great memories from visiting Councils to a wheelchair distribution in Mexico with Chris Lewis and our brothers and sisters from Prince of Peace Parish in Plano.

I must complement our worthy State Deputy, Alfredo Vela, for his choice for State Chaplin and Associate State Chaplin. Bishop Cahill and Father Salas are two of the best men I have ever met.I was lucky. I was around them at our state meetings, so I saw the dedication to the Church and the Knights more than most. I will never forget them.

Patricia and I will look forward seeing everyone again, if there is a meeting in Denton, Flower Mound, Fort Worth and maybe Dallas. We love you all, stay safe. Vivat Jesus.
