On Friday May 6th, St. Basil Council 4204 in Sugar Land hosted its 21st annual golf tournament at Quail Valley Golf Club in Missouri City. The golf tournament benefited four $1,000.00 educational grants that were awarded at the council’s annual awards banquet held Sunday June 26th. Golf tournament chairman Lloyd Waguspack reported that the council had fourteen teams participate as well as many sponsors and donors. The winners were in First Place, team Spiers; Second Place was team Durio and Morris and Third Place was the team of Waguspack, Sommer, Blanchette and Blaskowsky.
The Councils $1000.00 Educational Grant recipients were 8th grader Catherine Shulz, Senior Thomas Ramsey, Senior Ike Ezike and lastly, the newly established grant benefitting the Texas State Technical College in Rosenberg, TX in memory of Past Grand Knight Fred Trlicek. Grand Knight Gary Blanchette presented the check to Associate Provost John Kennedy who also serves as a Deacon at St. Theresa parish in Sugar Land. Others in attendance were Vice-President of development for TSTC, Michael Smith, Assistant Diocesan Deputy Sam Gonzales, PGK John Gambino, PGK Sam DeMora, Warden Marvin Kasper, Brother Glenn Redding as well as Kathy and Daniel Trlicek, the widow and son of the PGK Fred Trlicek.
