Another Major Success Expected at Council 830 Golf Tournament

By SK Ed Diaz, PGK/PFN/FDD

Vol. 4, 2016-2017

Planning is being finalized for Council 830’s (St. Patrick-Denison) annual Bonnie Ciaccio Golf Tournament to be held Saturday, September 10 at Tanglewood Country Club in Denison. The tournament is being held for the 7th straight year and has awarded over $90,000 for scholarships to 85 Catholic youth in the local area.

SK Mike Riley, chair of the tournament since its inception, stated that local youth have used the funds to help them successfully complete their degrees from Texas A&M, Texas, North Texas Women’s University, Texas Tech, St. Edwards University, and several other major schools including two youth that completed medical school. The tournament is named after a long-time member of the council whose family actively and financially has supported the tournament since the beginning. Each year the tournament honors a member of the council who recently passed away and this year, Clark Schoeck is the honoree.

The Tournament is actively supported by the entire Texoma community with many merchants contributing financially and with gift certificates. The entry fee of $70 per player includes green fees, cart, course refreshments, lunch, and chances to win many door prizes. The tournament each year sells out registrations early.
