LANCE
CORPORAL LUKE CARNEY YEPSEN, born April 1, 1986 in Houston, Texas, was
killed December 14, 2006 while conducting combat operations in the Al
Anbar Province of Iraq. After graduating from Kingwood High School in
2004 Luke attended Texas A & M, but left in his freshman year to
join the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a patriotic young man with a strong
desire to serve his country and to fight for the things we hold dear.
Since Luke was a strong and capable man, and armed with his faith in
God, he felt the need to protect his countrymen. That he lost his life
at the young age of 20 and so soon after being sent to Iraq makes the
loss all the more tragic. However, he felt he was covered in prayer and
that God was truly with him. Luke loved all people and was proud to have
traveled to 20 different countries in 20 years.
Blessing of the pavilion and sign was conducted by Deacon Carlin Walter’s “USMC” and member of the council.
