Roe Is Gone: Now Door Wide Open for Women to Receive True Healthcare

By Tim Von Dohlen, Past State Deputy

Vol. 2, 2024 - 2025

Tim Von Dohlen

There’s something of long-lasting, radically impactful importance resulting from the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent Dobbs decision that’s not being talked about. That “something” is the now-open potential for genuine respect for women and for providing true and natural healthcare for women.

In short, now women should receive the dignity and true healthcare each woman deserves!

My belief in the value and power of women is that they play an important, unique, and indispensable role in the family and in our contemporary

society. From a woman’s unique role as wife, mother, organizer for the home, instiller of knowledge and values in the lives of each of her children, companion and hopefully best friend for her husband and independent thinker with the ability to choose either to be a ‘stay at home mom’ or combining family life with a ‘job outside the home.’ A woman’s energy and zest for life is truly remarkable.

For the last 50 years, women’s healthcare services have been severely compromised, both in principle

and in practical approach to solutions offered.

Quick-fix “solutions” have increasingly replaced genuine evaluation and respect for the full reality of a situation, especially regarding a pregnancy.

For a variety of reasons, the provision of genuine women’s healthcare services has been inadequate. It is time to challenge state legislators to develop legislation that serves the needs of a woman to have a healthy body, well-suited to a woman’s unique physical needs, including caring for her during pregnancy and after the birth of her child.

Abortion is not healthcare. And pregnancy is not a disease.

True women’s healthcare addresses such situations as prenatal care, preventing underweight births, providing guidance regarding proper nutrition and more, so that a woman’s good health is protected during and after pregnancy and childbirth. Let’s help the woman and the baby with good natural healthcare in every state throughout America.

What Did The Dobbs Decision Change?

The majority opinion in the case of Thomas E. Dobbs, state health officer of Mississippi Department of Health, et al., Petitioners v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, et al., written by Justice Samuel Alito joined by Justices Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett, uses reason, science and history to substantiate the conclusions reached.

The courage of these Supreme Court Justices in light of numerous personal attacks on them and on their families is inspiring.

Dobbs is not the end of abortion in America, but future decisions regarding the control and regulation of abortion has returned to each of the states and Congress.

What are trigger laws?

Prior to the Dobbs ruling, 13 states adopted “trigger laws.” These laws would not go into effect until “triggered” by a reversal of Roe v. Wade. Now that Roe has been overturned, these statutes go into effect and trigger restrictions on abortion in each of those 13 states.

The remaining 37 states have various limits pending and each state will individually determine whether to make abortion easier and even more accessible or to make it more restrictive. Clearly the need to help women and to protect life in the states where abortion is less restricted will be even greater now than ever before.

And even in those states with trigger laws, the need to offer compassionate help for women, especially in pregnancy, will also be greater.

Bring to your state what works in another state

As a co-founder of the Austin-based JPII Life Center and Vitae Clinic, I can share first-hand tips, systems and principles for your own state or locality. I can put you in touch with our team and with our very successful model of offering true, natural and customized women’s healthcare options that are respectful and effective.

I will gladly help anyone, in another state or even country, who is serious about improving or offering respectful, natural and true healthcare options for women.

I believe this is one way that all people of goodwill can come together to address, at all appropriate locations —local, state, and national levels—what must be done to recognize and honor the dignity of each woman. This will improve true women’s health and maybe, once and for all, create the proper recognition of women in today’s society

At the John Paul II Life Center and the Vitae Clinic we treat each woman with respect and love. It is time to take away the emotion and stubbornness on both sides of the abortion issue and to do something together, women and men, that will make our families and our society stronger for years to come. Let us each reflect on the words of St. John Paul II, “It is the duty of every man to uphold the dignity of every woman.’”
