In 2015, Knights of Columbus Council 2917 decided to host an annual event to show appreciation to our religious sisters for all they have done for us and for the archdiocese.

Due to COVID 19, our last celebration was held in 2019. After a 2-year break, we celebrated our 6th Annual Religious Sisters’ Appreciation Celebration on October 16, 2022. We had over 90 sisters attend! The sisters came from the far corners of our archdiocese. K of C Council 2917 was the main host, with Council 2917 Ladies Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Christ the King Court #1750 partnering with them.

This year, the sisters provided their own entertainment. We have several talented sisters and on the invitation we asked if they would like to display their talent. We had several sisters sing and one group performed a folklorico dance.

The Ladies Auxiliary provided hors d’oeuvres, the council provided a home cooked Thanksgiving meal and the Catholic daughters provided the dessert.

After an afternoon of socializing, entertainment, food and games, the sisters were given a “gift bag” full of treats and gift cards as they left the event.

Our K of C Council 2917 Knights exemplified the 3 Principles of our Order- Charity, Unity and Fraternity on our celebration of sisterhood. CHARITY-by giving of financial assistance to host the celebration; UNITY- uniting together as Catholics to strengthen our beliefs and supporting our religious and FRATERNITY- Knights coming together in a social atmosphere supporting fellow Catholics
