Killeen, Texas — Assembly 2370 of the Patriotic Degree, Knights of Columbus donated National Motto posters to the Killeen Independent School District.

In 1956, the 84th United States Congress passed a joint resolution "declaring 'In God We Trust' the national motto of the United States." The resolution passed both the House and the Senate unanimously and without debate. The United States Code at 36 U.S.C. § 302 now says: "'In God We Trust' is the national motto."

In 2021, Texas passed Senate Bill 797. This law requires all State-supported elementary and secondary schools and higher education institutions to post in their facilities "In God We Trust" posters if such posters are donated or purchased by private donations.

The law says schools "must display in a conspicuous place in each building of the school or institution a durable poster or framed copy of the United States national motto 'In God We Trust.'"

The Patriotic Degree, a.k.a. the Fourth Degree, of the Knights of Columbus, proudly fosters patriotism through such activities as facilitating voter turnout on election days, working to honor and protect symbols of national pride, honoring veterans for their service and sacrifice, teaching personal responsibility in civic affairs, and taking publicly visible leadership roles on important national and moral issues.

Assembly 2370 of the Patriotic Degree, based at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights, took on the project of providing National Motto Posters to all public elementary and secondary schools and higher education institutions in the Killeen/Fort Hood area. On October 24, 2022, the assembly completed the project's first phase by donating 60 posters to the Killeen Independent School District. Plans call for the completion of all phases by the end of December. When completed, not only State-supported schools but also all Catholic parochial schools in the area and all institutes of higher education will have received the posters.

Superintendent Dr. John M Croft and Deputy Superintendent of District Operations Ms. Megan Bradley expressed their appreciation for the donation.
