Did you know that the Knights of St. Anthony de Padua hosted over 300 Bishops and 300 Knights on Saturday April 2, 2022 ?

well, they also hosted over 150 Kings, Queens, Rooks and hundreds of pawns too !

139th Supreme convention theme, is aptly named: “Called to Creative Courage”

Our Holy Father is asking the Knights of Columbus to reach out and find new avenues that can advocate to families and communities, and to encourage, develop and support St. Joseph’s model of guidance,courage,and self sacrifice;

The KC Council of 8738 hosted a scholastic chess tournament.

This event invited students from Kinder to 12 grade, from all schools in the San Antonio community and surrounding counties.

This event has 5 categories, that are sorted by grade, from Kinder - 1st, 2nd - 3rd, 4th - 5th,

6th - 8th and High School 9 - 12.

Students are paired by using a Swiss pairing system, and this allows for all students to play every round.

Trophies and medals were awarded to the top 10 players in each category.

Over 130 students attended the tournament with about 100 parents, sponsors, coaches and relatives who wanted to see their students play.

The KC Council also sought support and donations. Funds were solicited from the St. Anthony de Padua community to help defray the cost of the trophies and as an added bonus the KC’s also provided lunch for the contestants and coaches.

Our goal is to contribute to the youth in our society. Our Holy Father is asking to go beyond what we have done before and seek to serve and share our fraternity in new ways to accomplish those goals set by the Holy Father.

Council 8738 chose this venue and were pleased with the results.
