6,400 Miles Later...

By Brother Marc Sherwin Roque, ss.cc.

Vol. 4, 2016-2017

Hello my fellow Brother Knights! My name is Brother Marc Roque, I am a 27 year old professed religious brother and Catholic Missionary for the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SSCC) who is studying for the Catholic Priesthood in the beautiful islands of Fiji. I am also a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus who belongs to Council #15262 - Father Robert Maher - St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg, Texas (Rio Grande Valley).

Brother Knights, I am blessed to report that after traveling 10,300 kilometers (6,400 miles), the Paten and Chalice (that was made in honor of our late Brother Knight, Ted Hake, who passed away last year in August) has finally arrived to its forever home this past Divine Mercy Sunday (April 16th, 2023).

Thank you to the Hake Family and the Knights of Columbus (Father Fred Meyers - 4th Degree Assembly #3430 - Edinburg, Texas) for allowing me to take this Paten and Chalice to its forever home here in Fiji. The Parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul - Toga Catholic Community (Nausori, Fiji) are grateful and blessed for this beautiful gift that was desperately needed to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Brothers, rest assured that both of these sacred vessels will be used daily in the Catholic Liturgy. The life of our Brother Knight, Ted Hake will always be remembered when the vessels are being used.
