Shaun P. O'Brien-Prince of Peace Council 11716 in Plano held its 13th Annual Wheelchair Drive at Prince of Peace in February to benefit the American Wheelchair Mission. As of April 30th, the drive has raised $100,339 to provide 280 standard wheelchairs and 100 more expensive specialty wheelchairs for the CRIT Center in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

This is the 6th year in a row that the donations have exceeded $100K. Since 2010, the extremely generous parishioners of Prince of Peace Catholic Church have donated $1,062,214, which equates to 7,081 wheelchairs. These life changing gifts of mobility have answered many prayers and provided hope, dignity, freedom and independence to the recipients.

In past years, wheelchairs were provided for Honduras, The Holy Land and to CRIT Centers at these locations in Mexico: Guanajuato, Mexico City, Chiapas, La Paz, Puebla, Merida, Oaxaca, Aguascalientes, Tampico and Hermosillo.

The Knights of Council 11716 are very grateful to Fr. Michael Forge and Fr. Lucas Moreira De Sales for their tremendous support of the mission by allowing pulpit talks at all the Masses and encouraging parishioners to contribute to this mission. The Knights are also grateful to the parishioners of Prince of Peace Catholic Community for their overwhelming generosity.
