College Grant Program

In 2019 the Saint Faustina Council 16103 created the College Grant Program to provide monetary assistance to graduating high school seniors pursuing a college or vacation degree.

We resolved to provide monetary grants to graduating high school students among the children and grandchildren of our Council members and our parishioners.

The Grant committee has been headed since its creation by Chairman SK Rosario Stornello with a growing committee of Council members to read and award the grants each year.

To date we have awarded $25,000.00 in Grants to 35 awardees and we have received over 87 applications.

2019 – We had 9 applicants; The Grant Committee awarded 3 $500.00 College Grants A total of $1,500.00

2020 - We had 15 applicants; The Grant Committee awarded 6 $500.00 College Grants A total of $3,000.00

2021- We had 10 applicants; The Grant Committee awarded 6 $500.00 College Grants A total of $3,000.00

2022- We had 22 applicants; The Grant Committee awarded 10 $750.00 College Grants A total of $7,500.00

2023 – We had 31 applicants; The Grant Committee awarded 10 $1,000.00 College Grants. A total of $10,000.00

The heavy lifting on the Committee is done by the Judges who have volunteered to read every application, score and choose who should be awarded a grant. These committee members are PGK Mike Shannon, SK Ralf Ambuehl, PGK John Jordan, PGK Mike Walsh, SK Leonard Gomes, PGK Jeff Thigpen, Brother Kieth Kahl, Brother Thomas Lacki, & Brother Joseph Stornello.

Our College Grant Program is supported by the various fundraisers our Council has throughout the fraternal year. The Lenten Fish Fry, Golf tournament, & Outdoor Sportsman Raffle, to name just three. Our Council’s goal in the future is to increase the number & amount of the college grants awarded each year.
