Vol. 2, 2024 - 2025

Christopher Columbus Assembly 2266 in Plano participates in patriotic activities at least once per quarter. These activities are often combined with charitable acts in the community. This year, the Assembly identified a charitable activity sponsored by Catholic Charities of Dallas serving the homeless.

The St. Jude Center in Dallas, operating since December of 2020, fills a need that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.Having an occupancy capacity of 200 residents, many of whom are veterans, this facility provides emergency shelter, intensive case management and crisis assistance.

The Sir Knights of Assembly 2266 organized a barbeque cookout to serve lunch for the residents of the St. Jude Center on October 7th for roughly 140-160 residents. The fare included hamburgers and hotdogs, donated by Hirsch’s Meats in Plano, as well as chips, soft drinks, cookies and water. Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream donated the dessert. All who attended gave rave reviews and openly expressed their gratitude.

Sir Chuck Neubecker carries hotdogs to serving area. (l-r) Sir Knights Hank Setina, Craig Robinson, Kevin Alewine, Larry Amidei, Terrell Landry, Michael Reisinger and Chuck Neubecker.
