Vol. 2, 2024 - 2025

Led by Community Director Jerry Weaver, Council 6358 (Good Shepherd, Schertz) honored the Order’s namesake on Columbus Day with its annual Senior Appreciation Luncheon at Mikulski Hall (owned and operated by the Good Shepherd Columbus Club). Assisted by dozens of children from the local Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Honor Society, and the Council’s own Ladies Auxiliary, the Brothers of Council 6358 served a free chicken lunch to more than 400 senior citizens from across its parish boundaries and neighboring communities. After lunch, the Council treated the attendees to a dozen games of bingo and prizes, which was a huge hit with all the guests. Also in attendance were counselors and nurses from WellMed to provide free flu shots and information about proactive preventive medical care to the attendees. At the conclusion of the event, Council 6358 presented $1000 to the children’s organizations that came to assist the Council. Brother Knight and Schertz Mayor Ralph Gutierrez praised the event as an incredible display of love and respect for the community’s seniors who steadfastly provide outstanding support and generosity to the Council and its many activities, fundraisers, and initiatives throughout the year.
