Members of the Schertz Senior Center enjoy a free fish fry lunch on Good Friday provided by Good Shepherd Council 6358.

Council 6358 (Good Shepherd, Schertz) conducted its annual Good Friday Senior Fish Fry for more than 150 elderly members of the community at the Schertz Senior Center on 29 March. The Council conducts weekly Friday fish fry fundraisers during Lent for the entire community, but not on Good Friday so that all brothers and family members may attend the afternoon Good Friday service including Veneration of the Cross. However, serving a free lunch to the community’s seniors on Good Friday is a longstanding tradition for the Council that they continue to maintain. Working alongside volunteers at the Schertz Senior Center, members of the Council prepared and served a hot fish fry lunch for all seniors that wished to attend. Many seniors came from beyond the parish boundaries to participate in this fantastic annual event whose reputation continues to grow. Always happy to see each other, the event helped further the strong bonds of friendship that already exist between the Council and the community’s seniors that are always super supportive of the Council’s activities.
