We believe the Knights of Columbus provides Catholic men the best opportunity in today’s world of following in the footsteps of Christ. We thus want to do all within our power to grow the Order and foster healthy, vibrant councils in every parish.

We encourage all councils to have active membership recruitment activities called 24/7 Recruitment. We traditionally have encouraged membership drives and methods of membership recruitment. This will continue.

We also encourage councils to incorporate membership recruitment into all their activities. It is in the performance of activities in the parish that men are attracted to the Knights. Strong, healthy, vibrant councils generally have no problems recruiting. Men naturally are drawn to want to belong to a group of Catholic men like that.

Having a Trunk or Treat at your parish for Halloween? Make sure you have a few guys walking around with flyers for your council handing them out. Back to school fair? Make sure a few guys are recruiting. Every program can be a recruiting event if the council just assign a handful of guys to make it so.

When those guys have been recruited, ALWAYS have them first join online! Go to www.kofc.org and sign up! Make sure they put in your council number as the one they want to join and have them reply for the confirmation email.

After getting them signed up, get them to an Exemplification. Every District has one each month, so there should be one close. But every council can have their own Exemplification team. That way, there’s no waiting to bring a man in. Find all the details on starting your own team by clicking here. And there’s always the video option available at the same link.

Councils should routinely watch their Prospect Tab in Officers Online and invite the men on there to join their council. If the online member does not want to join your council, simply reject the prospect off your tab. If he is incompatible or you question his eligibility, reject him for that reason. But be aware, we’ll be contacting you to see what’s up with that. And if there are any other issues, such as he wants to join a different council, let the Online Membership Coordinator know and we’ll reassign him.

Let’s keep building our membership to help us spread the Word of God throughout the State of Texas!
