Council 6358 (Good Shepherd, Schertz) conducted its annual Blessed Michael J. McGivney and Assumption of Mary Novena from 6-14 August 2024.The Council conducted the novena at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (Schertz), Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (Marion), and Mikulski Hall (owned and operated by the Good Shepherd Columbus Club in Schertz).On 9 August, the Council combined efforts with the local Texas Knights on Bikes to conduct a Silver Rose ceremony at Good Shepherd Catholic Church immediately followed by the novena.On 11 August, the Council hosted a brunch for the parish to celebrate the Feast Day of Blessed Michael J. McGivney.All events were well-received by the Council and the parish, and approximately 800 people attended the novena during the 9-day event leading up to the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
1 – A blessed candle and relic of Blessed Michael J. McGivney accompany the Blessed Sacrament for adoration on day 3 of the novena at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
2 – Brother Tony Paulson, past Texas Family of the Year, leads the parish at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on day 5 of the novena.
3 – Steve Steele, President of the Texas Knights on Bikes, leads a Silver Rose reflection prior to day 4 of the novena at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
4 – Brother David Wissmann leads an assembly for day 2 of the novena at Mikulski Hall.
5 – Brother Ingrim Weikal (September Family of the Month) takes charge of the novena on day 6 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
6 – Brothers, family members, and parishioners enjoy a brunch provided by the KofC Ladies Auxiliary after the novena on day 6 to celebrate the feast day of Blessed Michael J. McGivney.
